What Is An Aerogel Blanket Made Of?

Fiberglass and Aerogel- a synthetic porous ultralight material derived from a gel, where the liquid component of the gel has been replaced with a gas. The resulting solid has extremely low density and low thermal conductivity. It is also known as frozen smoke, solid smoke, solid air, or blue smoke due to its translucent nature and how the way light scatters inside the material. It feels like expanded polystyrene to the touch.

How Are Aerogels Made?

Aerogels are produced by extracting the liquid component of a gel through supercritical drying which allows the liquid to be slowly dried off without causing the solid matrix in the gel to collapse from capillary action, unlike conventional evaporation.

Their lightweight and flexible nature makes it easy to handle and install, minimizing the time and effort required during insulation projects. Unlike bulky and space-consuming conventional insulation materials, they can be cut and customized, enabling precise fitting even in tight or irregular spaces.

    NSA8/Cryogel Z (Low Temperature Insulation)

    NSA8 Aerogel blanket is a flexible, low-temperature and high-efficiency cold-proof felt. This material combines nano-aerogel with special glass fiber to produce flexible, ultra-low thermal conductivity, high-efficiency thermal insulation felt, suitable for liquid nitrogen, and other low-temperature industrial pipes, LNG plants, tanks and equipment that are cold-proof.

    NSA9/Pyrogel XTF (High Temperature Insulation)

    NSA9 delivers all of the benefits of NSA7 with the addition of passive fire protection. This lighter, thinner insulation option supports up to 2 hours of passive fire protection under the ISO 22899-1 standard, and represents the thinnest solution at higher 350kW/m2 flux, NSA9 can be applied without process interruption and offers immediate protection.

    With a thermal conductivity up to ten times lower than traditional insulation materials, this aerogel blanket offers unparalleled insulation performance. Its nanoporous structure prevents heat transfer, confining it within the space it’s applied, resulting in minimal heat loss and reduced energy consumption. As a result, heating costs can be significantly reduced.

    NSA9 Working temperature from -50ºC to 800ºC is our ideal option for better insulation performance and lower energy consumption.
